Trauma research, theory and practice is now underpinning the work we do as therapists and it is vital for counsellors to have an in depth understanding of trauma along with an experiential knowledge of somatics and body-mind theory which supports the bottom-up work to trauma recovery.
This Level 5 Award brings theory and cutting-edge trauma research and practice within the growing field of post-traumatic growth and somatic psychology. It will both deepen and broaden your work with clients supporting you to assess and work with a range of complex client presentations, working safely and effectively.
Within this course there will be more theory, particularly around complex trauma, skills practice, discussion and time with the group to support you to integrate somatic trauma practice into your client work.
The course will be validated by submitting two Learning Journals, which are reflective entries demonstrating engagement with the course content and personal / professional development; one Case Study or Written Assignment (4,000 to 5,000 word count), providing a structured reflection on clinical work that integrates course theories and learning outcomes; one Peer Feedback Form, completed during a practice session to offer structured feedback to a peer; and one Collaborative Group Work.
